3 Home-made Hair Masks That Will Make Your Locks Luscious

Posted by: Niral

Are your locks feeling a little lacklustre? Could you do with a little more shine and bounce? Don’t buy the most expensive hair mask on the shelves before you try giving your hair a little natural TLC. There are tonnes of kitchen cupboard ingredients out there which can do wonders for your hair.

So, get mixing, apply liberally, sit back and relax as we share our 3 favourite home-made hair mask recipes, ideal for softer, shinier hair…

1.Avocado Moisturising Mask

This mask is full of super rich, conditioning ingredients which will work wonders on dry or damaged hair, and leave normal hair feeling devastatingly silky. To make, combine:

  • Half an avocado
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 75ml water

For best results dampen hair with warm water before applying the mixture and combing it through your hair thoroughly. Then wrap your hair in cling film or don a shower cap and allow the mask to work its magic for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.

2.Cognac & Egg Yolk Softening Mask

It might sound like a hair of the dog recipe, but this mixture will leave your hair feeling incredibly soft and looking dazzlingly shiny. Plus it couldn’t be simpler to make.

Whisk one egg yolk with 3 teaspoons of brandy/cognac – if you have longer hair, you may want to double or even triple the mixture. Then massage the blend well into your hair, leave it wrapped up for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.

3.Banana & Honey Volumising Mask

Here’s another incredibly easy mask to make, perfect for those with thinner hair in need of a bit of a boost. To make it yourself simply mash 1 really ripe banana with 1 tablespoon of honey until you’ve created a paste. Again, for longer hair, double the recipe. Follow the same massaging and wrapping process as above before rinsing, shampooing and conditioning as normal.
