We may be over a month into 2017, but there’s no time like the present to try something new, especially if you’ve already fallen off of your unsustainable “New Year’s Resolution wagon”.
If you’re looking for a fitness refresh, or fancy changing up your workout regime, these four 2017 fitness trends could be the breath of fresh air you need to get into the shape of your life.
1. Water Workouts
Getting in the water to get fit is no longer the preserve of the over 60s aqua aerobics class. From pool-based circuit classes, to spin class-esque water-based versions of 2016’s notorious “Insanity” workout, this is the year you could make a serious splash with fitness.
2. Feel it in your Heart
Now that every person and their dog seems to have a fitness tracker hooked up to some part of their anatomy, classes oriented around your heart rate and devoted to getting you into that peak calorie burning zone are popping up all over the shop, including classes with a competitive element which sees your heart rate projected onto screens alongside your classmates’.
3. Mindful Fitness
Mindfulness has been in vogue for a couple of years now, helping to calm and open the minds of those who use the technique. Now the concept is impacting fitness trends, spawning classes which help you blend the mental and the physical to boost your understanding of your body and your overall happiness too.
4. Mix & Match
Tired of your same old yoga class or endless spin sessions? This year fitness classes are getting a shake up with a range of “mash ups” appearing on the scene, from yoga performed on core-toning platforms, to bending on stretching on water-borne boards.
Have you tried any new fitness classes this year? Which do you fancy giving a go? Have your say and share your experiences below.
