There are many reasons why big eyes are considered a beautiful feature. For many of us they connote wide-eyed innocence and fresh-faced beauty, giving a younger, brighter “Disney princess” quality to our make up looks. For others, wider eyes are a wonderful way to accentuate the natural captivating colours in our irises. In addition, a wider eye suggests alertness and engagement, two more gorgeous qualities.
But not all of us are lucky enough to have naturally wide eyes. In fact, as we get older, our eyes can even appear to get smaller. So how can we capture a dose of that youthful, wide-eyed wonder without resorting to extreme measures? A few clever make up tricks could be all that stands between you and truly hypnotising eyes…
1. Use a pale liner on your lower lid
A white or cream eye liner pencil applied to the lower lid will make your eyes appear larger and wider by making the line look like part of the eye, thus enhancing its size. A creamier or peachy tone will give a more natural look.
2. Boost your lower lashes
Enhancing your lower lashes with a good application of mascara will also help enlarge the appearance of the eye by widening it substantially. To make this technique really pop, apply a concealer below your eye first to brighten the lower lid area and create an even stronger contrast.
3. Highlight the inner eye
Use a dab of white eye shadow, a dusting of highlighter and/or a smudge of champagne coloured eye liner pencil to the inner corners of your eyes to really brighten and widen their look.
And voilà! Bigger looking, wider eyes in a matter of minutes! Do you have any clever tricks for creating a wider eyed look? Share your tips with other readers below.
